About the Author
Dr. Peter O'Neil has been a professor of mathematics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham since 1978. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he has served as chairman of mathematics, dean of natural sciences and mathematics, and university provost. Dr. Peter O'Neil has also served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota and the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where he was chairman of mathematics. He has been awarded the Lester R. Ford Award from the Mathematical Association of America. He received both his M.S and Ph.D. in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His primary research interests are in graph theory and combinatorial analysis.

I quite enjoy this book

As a fellow Latin teacher, I quite enjoy this book, Brian Beyer's second reader from Eutropius' Breviarium ab urbe condita. While his last edition focused on book III and its discussion of the infamous Second Punic War against Hannibal, here the reader explores legendary beginnings of the Roman city during the monarchy and early Republic, covering from 753 to 390 BCE. Finding a text for students who have mastered basic grammar and wish to enter the wide world of authentic Latin can be daunting, and Mr. Beyer's selection of Eutropius is well founded. Eutropius provides straight-forward Latin prose, with a manageable vocabulary and an exciting narrative.

This lively text on Rome's founding is sure to draw students in and provide ample avenues for cultural discussion in addition to its grammar. Mr. Beyer has provided extensive help both on vocabulary and grammar in running lists, as well as further commentary and explanations after the initial text.

The vocabulary glossary itself deserves a separate mention. In addition to providing the standard "full lexical entry" of each word, Mr. Beyer has provided a list of forms which many words appear, helping students identify new forms of words.

This book is ideal for students in high school, hoping to prepare for AP, or college, who have completed beginning Latin. The text is simple enough to understand before tackling the perhaps more intimidating authors like Tacitus or Cicero, yet it will not bore the advanced reader either. Learners are also served by the text's choice of topic--"The Legends of Early Rome" is sure to excite lovers of history and Latin.

Superb commentary for Latin learners!

If only there were more commentaries like Brian Beyer's. His notes to the Latin are clear and thorough. With this book, I'm able to read -- not just translate, but really read -- what Eutropius wrote. No single commentary has worked nearly as well for me. Mr. Beyer truly understands and addresses what we learners find so difficult.

Grammar and syntax notes are referenced to nine textbooks, so chances you're using one of them. Excerpts from Livy and other sources fill out the history. A separate section with a running commentary includes odds and ends such as what a dictatorship meant in ancient Rome, how the class system worked, how the kings compared to each other, and so on. In addition, there are maps, photos of artwork depicting events, a Latin-to-English vocabulary, and Eutropius's text by itself, without comments. And yes, there are macrons.

one of the best architectural guides

This is a splendid little architectural guide book, filled with valuable information, great photos and perceptive comments. It puts London's recent architectural achievements in context and is of value to both visitors and residents. I like the fact that the author is unafraid to express opinions, unlike most guide books that are anodyne and timid at the possibility of causing offense. The book covers an amazing amount of ground, with useful chapters on areas such as the Docklands, the emerging neighborhoods of places such as Hoxton. The amount of information on each building is good, with insights into why something looks the way it does. The story behind the Gherkin, for example is fascinating.

Ken Allinson knows all about the subject. The printed book may be good, but the Kindle version is terrible. The maps are unreadable and the photos are small and poorly organized. Need urgent improvements!

Weddings revisited

`A Marcelli Wedding' contains two previously issued novels; `The Marcelli Bride' and `The Marcelli Princess', both stories are entertaining reading. The only exception was the unrealistic depiction of how the secret service guards a Presidential daughter, Darcy; allowing her to go to a lavatory in a store without checking it out first and standing outside the door and then at several other points left relatively unguarded. However, because of this she is kidnapped and then is hidden, after her release at the Marcelli family vineyards. We also have to overlook the fact that a safe Camp David or other government secure area would be used rather than a publicly visited vineyard...but then we need a story and a romance. The Marcelli clan is loud and boisterous and loving and romance develops, family relationships are healed and danger overcome.

The second novel is a bit more confusing with the family relationships and strangely, the president's daughter that has married into the family seems to be left out of almost every gathering and conclave of the sisters, and family even though she now lives on the family estate and they love, like and have supposedly welcomed her into the family.
Mia, the wild sister is now raising a son on the family vineyards, having seen his father die. But then he shows up on the scene as the heir to a small European throne and he wants his son. How can Mia keep her son, can she really find love again with a man who she thought was dead and someone outside the law, but who is in effect a prince? There are many problems to be worked out, to say the least.

These are two appealing stories. However the caution that all too often concerns these romance compilations applies...these are not new stories. `The Marcelli Bride ` was published in 2005 and `The Marcelli Princess' in 2007. This is not really made clear on the book cover, but if you have not read them or wish to again this book provides the opportunity.

two fine romantic suspense

"The Marcelli Bride". The four kidnappers wearing Halloween masks abduct the president's daughter Darcy Jensen. When they reach their van, their leader looks at Darcy in disgust and informs his thugs they snatched the wrong one as no one cares what happens to this loser. They unceremoniously leave her behind in the parking lot as they plan to grab Darcy's glamorous sister Lauren. The two siblings are sent to separate safe houses. After a harrowing overseas ops scenario, Lieutenant Commander Joe Larson and his men are happy to be back in the States. Joe is assigned to protect Darcy at the Marcelli Vineyards. He only recently learned that he is a Marcelli. Amidst the vineyards, Joe and Darcy fall in love, but first he must keep her safe.

"The Marcelli Princess". In California Mia Marcelli is used to sleeping alone ever since Diego died several years ago. When she awakens to find a man in her bed she threatens to harm him while her two grandmothers charge into the room. The intruder explains he is Rafael, Crown Prince of Calandria. He faked his death but hides the reason for his reappearance; as he has come to take home their offspring four year old Danny, second in line to the throne. He even pretends not knowing he sired a son with her when she was in Calandria. If he gets the kid back to his kingdom, Mia has no legal rights.

These reprints of two of the Marcelli saga combine humor with suspense. Both entries are filled with action from the onset and strong characters though Rafael will not be liked. This omnibus contains two fine romantic thrillers.

Loved the documentary.....Book is Short but great recipes

I have mixed feelings about this book.

I ordered the 'Kindle' version and I thought that $9.99 was a little too high for the amount/length of information found in the book.

Should be closer to a $5.99 book.

I loved the documentary and immediately afterward I went to chemicalnation.com to explore further 'natural, non-chemical' ways to detoxify my home.

This book definately has some great 'recipes' for shampoo, cleaners, homemade remedies, etc. but nothing more than you can find on the internet.

I am glad I bought it however because I have several ideas from it.

I learned allot more than I knew before about essential oils and now am going to try some of the recipes and add the oils.

Too expensive for too little content

It only contains 6 recipes from the author and there is an added on section where he added reader recipes. It is a very short book and much of it describes why he chose a chemical free lifestyle and descriptions of the products used in the recipes. For 9.99 I felt like it should have had many more recipes included. Where are the recipes for the beauty products made on the documentary? I returned the book. If it had been cheaper I would have been okay with the purchase.

Not worth it!

I bought this book bc I was blown away by the film and was interested in getting green cleaning recipes. There are only ten recipes and the rest of the book is about the authors view on garbage. I would recommend recipes online instead of this book! Don't buy not worth it. :( Dissappointed.

About the Author
Patrick De Pelsmacker holds a PhD in economics (University of Ghent, Belgium). He is Professor of Marketing at the University of Antwerp, Belgium and part-time Professor of Marketing at the University of Ghent. Maggie Geuens holds a PhD in applied economics at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, where she also worked as an assistant professor. Currently she is Professor of Marketing at the University of Ghent. She is the academic director of the Brand Management Centre at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School. Joeri Van den Bergh holds a masters degree in marketing (University of Ghent and the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School). He is a regular teacher in various marketing programmes, has been involved in in-company training and consultancy, and is Secretary of the Board of Ancienne Belgique (AB), one of Europe's leading music venues.
